STUDIO FAQs

Do I need to create an account in order to take a class?

Yes. All riders must create their own account and sign our Liability Waiver prior to taking any of our classes. We do not allow anyone under the age of 16 to take our classes. 16 and 17 year olds must show up in person at the studio with a parent/guardian to sign the liability waiver before taking their first class. Once you’ve registered, signing up for a class is a breeze!

Do you offer discounts?

Yes! We offer the following discounts on our buy page:

-Students (undergrad ONLY)

-Military professionals and spouses

-Educators

-Medical professionals and social workers

Students are eligible for a discount on single credits, a 5 pack, AND a monthly unlimited membership. In order to validate your account as a student, please send a copy of your current ID (must include a date). We will also accept a copy of your schedule or transcript that provides date verification if your ID doesn’t include one. All other “discount-eligible” groups will receive 10% off a single credit purchase. Please email info@axlboston.com with documentation to unlock the benefits prior to making a purchase.

What should I know before my first class?

RIDE

Get excited! We can’t WAIT to have you come by and experience what the hype is all about here at AXL. Since the rider determines the intensity of his/her/their class, new and advanced spinners alike will find their own challenge in each class they take. There are hills, sprints, hand weights, and core work all in a 45 (or 30 or 60!) minute session set to the hottest beats. Your bike comes equipped with a micro resistance dial, allowing you to customize your workout. Choreography during the ride makes things fun, but is entirely optional. Crank up the resistance, keep your legs pumping, and you’ll leave sweatier and stronger than when you walked in!

RIDE x SCULPT

This is a class designed to give you a deeper full-body workout. The RIDE portion of this 50-minute total body experience is modeled after our DRTY30 program- think focused, intense cardio effort that covers hill work, sprints, and endurance all in thirty minutes. Then you will meet us on the mat for 15 minutes of isolated off-bike work that hones in on upper body and core strength using body weight, hand weight, and towel movements to deliver a holistic full body sweat. SOCKS ARE REQUIRED IN THIS CLASS!

How do I make purchases? Can I keep my card on file?

Once you register and sign up for a class, we do require you to keep a card on file. If you would like to purchase additional rides, retail, or water bottles, we can simply charge it to the card on file.

Okay, I just signed up for my first class! When should I arrive?

NEW CLIENTS: New clients are required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of class. We will use these 10 minutes to check you in, give you a studio tour and support your bike setup in class. This policy will be strictly enforced to guarantee a safe and stress-free experience. New clients may not be permitted in to class if they arrive within 10 minutes of the class start time. New clients will NOT be permitted into class once class has started. We will always return the credit back to the client's account for future use/waive the penalty fee in these situations.

RETURNING CLIENTS: We ask that our returning riders arrive and check in at least 3 minutes prior to the start of class. If you aren't checked in at the exact start of class, and haven't given us a heads up about your tardiness, your bike will be released to a walk in or stand by rider and you will be considered a no-show.

LATE ENTRY: While "late entries" are highly discouraged across the board, we offer a 5 minute window from the start of class to when a rider can be allowed into the spin room (if the spot is available and IF rider has called ahead with a heads up). Unfortunately, late entries beyond the 5 minute mark are NOT allowed for safety reasons. Late entries also disrupt an ongoing class and create a distraction for the instructor and fellow riders alike. Please note that NEW clients will NOT be permitted late into class regardless of a heads up. In these situations, we will return the credit back to a rider's account for future uses/waive the penalty fee.

What should I bring to my first class?

Just a positive attitude and a water bottle! We have a purified water station so you can stay hydrated. We also sell bottles of water if you forget to bring your own. Clip-in shoes are available to you at no additional cost; socks are available for purchase at the front desk. We also have complimentary towels, ear plugs, and hair ties. If you’re heading to work (or to brunch!) after your class, feel free to use our showers and freshen-up bar stocked with amenities by LATHER, a female-owned natural body care brand.

RIDE x SCULPT

Mats will be provided at all RxS stations, along with our complimentary cleated shoes for the RIDE portion. Please remember- SOCKS are a non-negotiable for this class. We will have socks for purchase at the front desk if you’ve forgotten a pair.

What should I wear to class?

Be prepared to sweat A LOT. We encourage all our riders to wear suitable gym attire and require everyone to wear socks and clip-in shoes; you may use ours or bring your own. Our bikes are compatible with both SPD and Delta LOOK cleats. Feel free to bring a change of clothes for those post-spin activities as our studio has plenty of cubbies to store your belongings.

What are your studio amenities?

We proudly offer fully-stocked showers, and a well-outfitted freshen up bar carrying dry shampoo, blow dryers, and other amenities. We also offer infrared sauna sessions in our locker rooms and Normatec compression therapy, available to be booked right on our app just like a class! Head to the Recovery tab on our website to learn more.

Our studio also has its very own seasonal cold brew cart, pouring Eastie’s finest Travel Mug coffee for our riders who need that dose of caffeine to get their day going!

Where can I store my stuff during my ride?

Our studio has several lockers (BYOLock!) and cubbies monitored by our staff for you to store your belongings during class so you can have a stress-free ride. We do not allow cellphone use during class, but are happy to hold them behind the desk if you’d prefer.

Booking Window:

Our booking window for the week opens every Sunday at 12PM- so set those alarms and snag your bike! Our website and app reflect the most up-to-date information regarding class times, instructors, and cancellations.

What is your Late Cancel/No Show Policy?

Effective Jan 4 2024, AXL will be enforcing the following late cancel/no-show policy. The policy applies to BOTH membership holders and clients booking via credit packages:

LATE CANCEL: $15 penalty fee + RETURN of class credit

  • Late Cancels are reservations canceled less than 12 hours before class start time

  • Penalty fees and credit returns will be processed within 1 business day of the date of the affected class time

NO SHOW: $20 penalty fee + RETURN of class credit

  • No shows are reservations that are not canceled before class start time

  • Penalty fees and credit returns will be processed within 1 business day of the date of the affected class time

Late cancellations are better than no shows, but in both cases we want you to retain your credit so you can join us again in the future! While we do understand that things come up, we strongly encourage you to be mindful of the policy when planning out your week at AXL. As a general reminder, AXL enforces a 12 hour cancellation window policy- any reservations canceled outside of the 12 hour window for the relevant class time will not incur a fee.

NOTE: AXL Unlimited Members (undiscounted memberships) will be allotted 2 grace cancels per quarter, applicable ONLY towards late cancellations.

What if I’m running late for my class?

While "late entries" are highly discouraged across the board, we offer a 5 minute window from the start of class to when a rider can be allowed into the spin room (if the spot is available and IF rider has called ahead with a heads up). Unfortunately, late entries beyond the 5 minute mark are NOT allowed for safety and experience reasons. Late entries also disrupt an ongoing class and create a distraction for instructor and fellow riders alike. Please note that NEW clients will NOT be permitted late into class regardless of a heads up. In these situations, we will return the credit back to a rider's account for future uses/waive the penalty fee.

How do I set up my bike?

Our Schwinn AC POWER bikes are fully adjustable to fit each rider comfortably. Our instructors and desk staff are always available to assist when needed. Just ask! If this is your first time riding with us, we will make sure you and your bike are ready for class once you check in. Please give yourself time to feel comfortable on your bike, test the tension, sit and stand – every bike is different.

There are three key parts to proper set up on the bike.
1. Seat Height
2. Handle Bar Height
3. Seat Fore/Aft position

Can I cancel or move my reservation?

The short answer is YES. Give us a call and we will do our best to work with you. You can cancel before any class with at least a 12 hour notice and not be charged a penalty. If you would like to move your reservation to a different class for the same day, give us a call and we’ll see how we can accommodate you.

Can I freeze/cancel my membership?

We get it. Things come up in life. Just reach out to us and we can put a freeze on your membership so you won’t be charged. You are allowed one 30 DAY freeze a year. Under most circumstances, we do require a 14 day notice before your membership renews to put a freeze on your account. If you’d like to cancel your membership, send us a note at info@axlboston.com and we will help take care of it! Please note: membership cancellations require a 14 day WRITTEN notice.
